Continental announced that they will be the third major US carrier to drop the $100 same-day standby fee they had planned to implement January 1st for travelers who purchased nonrefundable tickets. Their action follows United Airlines decision last week and American Airlines this week. A spokesperson for US Airways, the airline that started the trend, said it is sticking with the $100 fee it implemented in October. A $100 fee already applies for some Delta Shuttle flights, and no announcement has yet been made regarding their reversal. The $100 standby change fee is still scheduled to take effect for Delta and Delta Express ($50) on January 1, 2003. ©2001 Gateway Travel Management. All Rights Reserved.
