Snowfall in the Washington area caused a number of delays and cancellations at area airports today, but conditions appear to be improving. Both Dulles International and Reagan Washington National airports are now open and operating normally. Reagan had been closed for an hour, from about 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EST, so runways could be cleared of snow. Dulles Airport did not close at any time, but delays and cancellations did occur at both airports. Delays and cancellations were also reported for flights departing and arriving at Philadelphia International Airport, and at all three New York area airports, LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy International and Newark (New Jersey) International. All LaGuardia flights were delayed at least an hour both inbound and outbound, with cancellations mounting. Flights arriving at JFK, Teterboro (New Jersey) International and Baltimore-Washington International were being held at their departure points until later in the afternoon. With the storm subsiding, all airports are on their way to restoring normal operations. Please continue to call your GTM representative to get up to the minute information on departing or arriving flights across the country regardless where you might be flying to, your flight may be originating on one of the cities where the delays are occuring. ©2001 Gateway Travel Management.
