Internet
and cellular access will be turned off at Pearson International
Airport in Toronto, Canada beginning July 3. A dispute between several
telecommunications firms and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority
will disrupt mobile phone service at Pearson International Airport
as of July 3.
The
Authority declared negotiations deadlocked as of June 18 and will
cut power to communications equipment owned by Bell Mobility, Rogers
Wireless, Telus Mobility and Microcell Telecommunications. The power
cut will also affect pagers, fax machines and Internet access for
travelers.
If you plan to transit Pearson International Airport on or after
July 3, check with your service provider to be sure your mobile
phone and other communications devices will be operational at the
airport.
