May 03, 2002 - Continental Cleveland Hopkins Airport Delays

Expect delays from flights departing from Cleveland Hopkins airport on Continental Airlines. Possible detection of explosive materials has closed Concourse C and D at Hopkins International Airport. A baggage-screening machine may have detected explosives in a bag in which the airport security officers have not yet found. All passengers are being re-screened. Spokeswoman Yolanda Bevill says the machines have returned false positives before. Bomb sniffing dogs are sweeping the area. Their sweep should conclude by 1:30 p.m. Continental and Continental Express operates out of the closed areas. Continental Airlines spokeswoman Julie King says they are moving some flights to the "A" concourse to get around the closure. All other flights are still taking off and landing at the airport and concourses A and B are operational.

We will provide more details on this breaking story as they emerge.
