With
the launch of new screening rules for checked baggage, Delta has
announced new airport baggage procedures.
Effective today, January 15, Delta will no longer accept
checked baggage at ticket counters or curbside locations
less than 30 minutes before a flight's scheduled departure time.
We expect that most airlines will adopt similar, if not the same check
in requirements in order to allow sufficient time for the baggage
to be screened.
Tips for checking baggage:
As always, if you must check
bags, do not pack items that you cannot live without. If you arrive at your location and your bags do not, then it's
best to be prepared.
Do not lock your checked
bags. If your bag is locked, the locks could be destroyed
if a more thorough search is required by the airline.
Always place a name and address
tag inside your luggage in the event the tag on the outside
of you luggage is lost or damaged.
If you intend to fly stand by, you must
declare at the time of check-in whether you intend to stand
by for another flight.
Expect delays, and take your
patience with you to the airport.
